Frequently Asked Questions
Please have a click through the cat grooming Ts and Cs and FAQs below for some useful and necessary info. If you have any further questions or concerns or would like to chat about a groom, feel free to contact me!
-
FeedingPlease do not feed your cat less than 2 hours before your appointment – a full belly can cause a more uncomfortable groom for your kitty and may result in an ‘accident’.
-
Nail TrimmingAll kitties nails will be trimmed before grooming for safety reasons (unless for mitigating circumstances). This does not hurt, it just reduces the risk of scratches for me and ingrown nails for them!
-
Health & WelfareI adhere strictly to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, which ensures no animal is put under unnecessary or extreme stress or any suffering. Any matts found will need to be shaved off, as matts cannot be brushed out (at all in most cases, or without severe discomfort in others). Cat grooming for the most part is done for welfare reasons, and so I will always put welfare before appearance during a groom. By confirming your appointment, I will assume your cat is fit and healthy. If they appear unwell at the time of the appointment, the groom will not take place due to the risk of cross infection to other pets and the welfare of your kitty. In this case you will be asked to re-book the grooming appointment once your pet has received vet attention and has fully recovered. If your kitty has underlying health conditions, please let me know so we can decide the best course of action.
-
Grooming RequirementsI will always take your aesthetic wishes into consideration before a groom, however it might not always be possible to achieve the desired look. If matting is discovered during the groom or whilst discussing prior to, this will need shaving off and will nearly always be the only solution for matting.
-
Discontinuing a GroomI will always do my utmost to finish a groom and deal with any matting/issues causing kitty discomfort first and foremost. However there may be rare times that a cat may become too stressed, aggressive or is in too much discomfort to continue. In this case, the groom will need to be stopped for their safety and my own. The groom may be continued at another time depending on how and why the groom stopped. Age, health and behaviour/personality will all be taken into account when deciding whether to continue or halt a groom, and your kitties needs will always be prioritised.
